  12. shareware-version and *NOT* for money! If you give/send this

  16. Since there is no original Norton Commander for OS/2 available
  17. (ok, there is one, but I don't like programs running on my WPS)
  18. I decided to write my own OS/2-Commander.
  19. The most functions are very similar to the original, but it's not
  20. ready yet.
  21. This ist a Beta-version! But if you like it of course you can register
  22. this version. Just send me or my bank some money.
  23. 30,- DM (20,- US$) or more and you're allowed to use this program
  24. more than 30 days and it would really push me to improve this nice
  25. software.
  26. If you don't register, you have to delete it after 30 days!

  32. What the OS/2-Commander can do at the moment:

  36. Let's start at the begining:

  38. OS2COM should be started with the OS2C.CMD.
  39. This is the only way to change to the current drive and directory
  40. when leaving the program.

  42. CURSOR-KEYS (or mouse) moves through the files.
  43.  
  44. ENTER or mouse double-klick changes into the directory the cursor
  45. is actual on.
  46.  
  47. INSERT or right mouse button marks an entry.

  107.        If you've trouble with 30 or 34 lines since OS/2 2.1 March-beta
  108.        try ALT-F9 to solve it.

  110. ALT-F10 Tree-function.

  112. ALT-<letter> moves the cursor to the next entry starting with this letter.

  114. CTRL-F1 to CTRL-F5 sorts the active window by name, extension, date, size
  115.         or unsorted.

  117. CTRL-F6 to switch to a number of video modes.

  119. CTRL-\ (CTRL-# on german keyboards) to switch to the root-directory
  120.  
  121. CTRL-A shows the listing of self-extracting archives.

  123. CTRL-E is scrolling through the command-history

  125. CTRL-Cursor_Up can now be used as a History-Search-Function similar to CTRL-E.
  126.      If you want to get back a special command out of the history
  127.      you can enter ther beginning of the command and get the command
  128.      back with CTRL-Cursor_Up.

  130. CTRL-F change file attribute.

  132. CTRL-G switches between ascending and descending sorting

  134. Sysop-feature CTRL-I switches FILES.BBS-Info.
  135. If ON the descriptions of files are showed if there is a FILES.BBS
  136. in the current directory and the opposite window is the Info-window

  138. CTRL-L switches the inactiv window between 'Info' and 'Filelist'.

  140. CTRL-O switch of the screen (show background).

  142. CTRL-R re-reads the directory.

  144. CTRL-S change setup.

  146. CTRL-U swaps left/right panel

  148. CTRL-PgUp changes one directory up (..).

  150. CTRL-ENTER puts the filename under the cursor to the command line.

  152. ENTER on a filename starts the program or the program defined for this
  153. extension in the OS2COM.INI.

  155.  You can start programs with ALT-ENTER although.
  156.  If you do so, the Commander will launch the program in a new task.

  158. If the comand line is not empty, ENTER does the command, ESC erases
  159. the command line.

  162. The screen saver is automaticaly activated after the number of minutes
  163. without pressing a key defined on the OS2COM.INI.
  164. If defined as 0, the screen saver is not activated.
  165. You can activate the screen saver immediately if you move the mouse cursor
  166. to the upper right corner.
  167. If the mouse cursor is in the lower left corner the screen saver is
  168. deactivated.

  171.                                 ARCHIVES

  174.   The OS/2-Commander has an integrated Archive-Viewer.
  175.   Archives are showed like normal directories. Inside an
  176.   archive you can view, copy, move and delete files.
  177.   It can handle the archive types ZIP, LHZ, ARJ, ZOO, ARC and SQZ
  178.   and the self-extracting archives of ZIP, LZH and ARJ.

  180.   You have to define following in the OS2COM.INI:

  193.   The ':' has to be directly behind the switch.

  195.   If you define the complete name with path + extension, the program
  196.   is called directly without loading a command interpreter first.
  197.   This kind of call is much faster but seems not to work on all
  198.   machines. Just try it, if it's not working, strip the extension.

  200.   The following programs are needed to use the archive-viewer:
  201.  
  202.   For the other arcer you will need the following programs:
  203.   ARJ: "ARJ.EXE" from Robert K. Jung and the OS/2-version "UNARJ.EXE".
  204.        The OS/2-version is only used for unpacking if you want to unpack
  205.        all files and didn't give them a target directory. That's because
  206.        UNARJ don't support any interesting command line switches.
  207.        Otherwise ARJ (DOS) will be used.
  208.   LZH: LH/2 from Peter Fitzsimmons (OS/2-version).
  209.   ZIP: The above defined programs PKZIP/PKUNZIP for OS/2 from PKWARE
  210.        or the 32Bit-version ZIP.EXE and UNZIP.EXE from InfoZip
  211.   ARC: The OS/2-version 6.0 "ARC2.EXE" from SEA.
  212.   ZOO: The OS/2-version 2.1 with above defined name from Rahul Dhesi.
  213.   SQZ: The DOS-version 1.08.3 from J. Hammarberg.

  216.   The OS/2-Commander will detect archives files with a different
  217.   than the standard-extension.
  218.   When pressing ENTER f.e. on a ZIP-file with the extension ".SA0"
  219.   OS2COM will detect a ZIP-archive and start the archive-viewer.

  223. What the OS/2-Commander can *not* do at the moment:

  226. - The internal viewer and editor are not ready yet, but you

  234. What's the difference between the OS/2-Commander and the Norton-Commander?

  237. - There is no "EGA/VGA-Mode".
  238.   The OS/2-Commander will automatically detect the number of rows and
  239.   columns and support every possible number of rows and you can
  240.   switch to a number of video-modes with CTRL-F6.

  242. - The OS/2-Commander can copy, move and delete a directory tree.
